State Minister Vasantha Senanayake visited Rwanda to further strengthen bilateral relations between Rwanda and Sri Lanka. The visit took place from 22-25th October 2018 as part of Sri Lanka ’s policy to engage with countries in the African continent. Diplomatic relations between the two countries were established in 2011 and Rwanda is accredited to Sri Lanka Mission in Kenya.

The State Minister addressed the Sri Lanka –Kenya Business Forum organized by the Sri Lanka High Commission in Nairobi where the private sector companies had the opportunity to meet prospective buyers, wholesalers and Kenyan entrepreneurs to further their businesses.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka Tilak Marapana, concluded a four-day visit to Kenya on Wednesday 27th June 2018. The visit to Kenya was part of Government of Sri Lanka ’s border policy to expand relations in the African region. In 2016, the Government established a Permanent Mission to the African Union in Addis Ababa. The 3rdSession of the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA) held from 4th to 6th December 2017, unanimously approved two important resolutions co-sponsored by Sri Lanka that called upon the global community to reduce toxic pollution sources that impact negatively on the environment, oceans and human health.
